The Parks Supervisor will plan, prioritize, assign, supervise and review the work of staff responsible for providing parks construction, maintenance, and repair services within the Parks, Recreation and Public Lands Department. Essential duties will include: participation in preparation and administration of division budget; prioritize and manage projects by preparing time, equipment, and materials specifications and estimates; coordinate staff selection and training; evaluate various project/activity reports; coordinate emergency crews as required, and will perform technical tasks related to maintenance of City parks. The Parks Supervisor may be responsible to perform the most difficult maintenance and repair duties within the parks. This position requires communicating with other City Staff, outside agencies, contractors, and the general public and providing them with information as required.
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Park/Recreation Management, Natural Resource Management, or related field is preferred
Four or more years’ related experience with city government, or supervisory experience and knowledge of park department functions and operations is required
Ability to obtain Montana Department of Agriculture Pesticide Applicator License, Certified Playground Safety Inspector Certificate (National Park and Recreation Association), and Certified Pool Operators Certification (National Park and Recreation Association) or Aquatic Facility Operator Certification (National Swimming Pool Foundation) within the first year of employment
