Working under supervision of the Health Services Manager, in an outpatient setting, this position is responsible for the provision and management of occupational health services within a petroleum refinery and oversight of public and environmental health initiatives undertaken by local management on behalf of employees, contractors or the local community. The incumbent will possess the ability to interact and collaborate with a diverse group of internal and external stakeholders to prevent and manage injuries and illnesses and to promote health, wellness, productivity and safety in the refinery working population. This will be accomplished by designing programs and managing health services directed towards workers, and when applicable the local community, as well as engaging in the clinical evaluation and treatment of injuries and illnesses.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIE
Oversee and maintain the onsite occupational health clinic. Administer and maintain the policies, programs, and procedures of the clinic consistent with the company's general policies concerning medical services as defined by Corporate Health Services (CHS).
Assist in managing the clinic's budget and overseeing procurement of necessary facility equipment and supplies to operate the clinic safely and effectively.
Evaluate and treat injured and ill employees and provides emergency medical management and treatment for all injured workers.
Perform variety of worker clinical evaluations including, but not limited to, annual health monitoring and medical surveillance examinations, pre-assignment/pre-placement examinations, preventive service examinations, etc. Reports examination activities to local management and to Health Services Manager.
Undertake and oversee provision of specialty services such as drug and alcohol testing, medical screening, health-related studies (i.e. ergonomic evaluations, special investigations of work place incidences, etc.), travel medicine consultations and immunizations, etc.
Maintain and operate all clinical equipment, including calibration and record keeping in accordance with current policy and procedures
Cooperate with CHS and the Health Services Manager in developing health education and wellness programming relevant to the refinery worker population, and administers the delivery of those programs and activities at the local level.
Provide all clinical activities under the direction of Health Services Manager in accordance with applicable laws governing state licensure and national certification.
Participate in frequent site visits by CHS.
Provide physical assessment as needed
Dispenses medications and appliances within scope of practices and as ordered by the treating provider in accordance with state regulations
Attend meetings and training as required
Completes required certifications; becomes proficient in clinical systems and procedures, and maintains currency in all policies, practices, procedures and HIPPA training
Maintaining the appropriate continuing education so that licensure/certification is ongoing
Performs other duties, as assigned.
Minimum of 5 years experience in an Occupational Health setting
Must be a licensed RN
Must be certified or willing to be certified in CPR, audiometric testing and spirometry
Proficiency with Microsoft Office products
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
Experience in occupational health clinic operations or medical office work post externship.
Attention to detail
Basic knowledge of clinical procedure, medical anatomy and physiology
Working knowledge of occupational medicine requirements
Microsoft Office Suite skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Basic procedural skills such as blood draws, EKG/PFT testing
Ability to speak clearly and effectively in a variety of settings
Ability to participate in initial and ongoing training as required
Effective communication and interaction with employers, patients, providers and other colleagues
Ability to use tact and diplomacy appropriate to situation
Ability to maintain work relationship with all levels of colleagues

This can be a fast-paced, deadline-oriented medical office environment. There will be access to confidential and sensitive information, requiring ongoing discretion and secure information management in paper and electronic form. The medical department is located within a secured petroleum refinery.
