The Las Vegas Philharmonic is in its 19th season and has established itself among the nation’s leading regional orchestras. The mission is to perform music that enriches, educates, and helps to build a vibrant, culturally rich community. Under Music Director Donato Cabrera, the Philharmonic is bucking national trends by growing and sustaining enthusiastic audiences. H C Smith Ltd is pleased to represent The Las Vegas Philharmonic in its search for a new Executive Director.
The Las Vegas Philharmonic is a fully professional orchestra with 74 contracted musicians and a budget just over 2 million. Each season the Orchestra presents 10 concerts featuring celebrated masterpieces coupled with acclaimed music by living composers and Pops repertoire. This repertoire demonstrates a commitment that enables the Philharmonic to keep the art form relevant and vital for today’s audiences. Since March 2012, the Las Vegas Philharmonic has presented its concerts in Reynolds Hall at The Smith Center for the Performing Arts where they are a founding resident company. The Orchestra also connects with its community by providing programs that enrich. Each year a chamber music series of 3 concerts is presented in the Troesh Studio Theater at The Smith Center. In addition, the Las Vegas Philharmonic serves as the pit orchestra for selected ballet performances.
Over the course of its 18-year relationship with the Clark County School District, the Las Vegas Philharmonic through its eight performances in the Youth Concert Series has shared a classical music experiences with over 245,000 children, approximately 70 percent of whom attend Title One elementary schools. Additional educational enrichment programs include a young artists concerto competition, senior community programs and an established collaboration with the Discovery Museum on the campus of the Smith Center. Perhaps one the most innovative enrichment programs is the Music Van, still in its infancy, which will serve three broad functions: educational outreach, senior community support and community engagement. The customizable programs include: classroom music support, instrumental demonstrations for elementary, middle and high school students and music therapy for mature individuals, families and communities.
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director exerts leadership over all administrative aspects of the Las Vegas Philharmonic, including management of its financial and human resources. Responsibilities include production, marketing and sales of Las Vegas Philharmonic artistic products, fundraising and representing the Orchestra to the public, including patrons, and donors, corporations, agencies, foundations, and the community. The selected candidate will be an advocate at local and State government agencies for arts and arts education issues.
One of the key challenges facing the Las Vegas Philharmonic is the extensive variety of entertainment choices available in this metropolitan area of 2.3 million permanent residents.
