The chief executive manages all programs and policies for Central Oregon’s Regional Destination Marketing Organization to maximize the highest and best use of its public/private regional tourism investment resources. This position requires a savvy leadership professional with experience in regional tourism development at the local, state and national level. Experience in multiple marketing disciplines including, strategic planning, financial management, communications, public relations, advertising (all mediums), partnership development, research and analytics is essential. The CEO reports to the Board of Directors.

Lead Central Oregon’s most established tourism marketing and promotion organization that has, for forty-seven years, been directly contributing to the tourism industry generating more than $1.1 billion in annual economic impacts and employment of more than 10,000 Central Oregon residents.
Demonstrate your exceptional public policy, government and professional communications skills.
Develop regional, state and national relationships with industry stakeholders and leaders.
Lead and inspire an experienced and accountable team of marketing professionals to ensure that visitation to Central Oregon continues to develop and grow at a healthy, sustainable pace.
Manage and execute an annual budget of $3.5 million dedicated to marketing Central Oregon as a nationally competitive destination.
Develop and execute a strategic marketing plan, directing the team to initiate strategies to reach key audiences with compelling and innovative messaging.
Partner with community leaders, elected officials and COVA stakeholders to create award winning marketing cooperative ?programs for a world-class tourism destination.
Manage outside creative (ad agency and independent contractor reviews) meeting tight budgets and timelines.?
Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred) in a related field is required. Five plus years of proven leadership in non-profit destination management and board governance, or similar business management.
Expertise in building relationships and working with government officials, economic development and business organizations. Knowledge of Central Oregon tourism and hospitality industry is preferred.
Demonstrated ability to apply the principles of sound financial management; including budget development, forecasting, reporting and administration in compliance with all local, state and federal regulations.
Demonstrated ability to assess current and future staffing needs to achieve organizational goals within available financial resources. Proven ability to hire, lead, motivate and supervise a professional staff team.
Experience with development of strategic marketing plans, destination brand marketing, public affairs and media communications. The ability to comprehend these diverse but complementary business needs and translate them into an actionable business plan.
Thorough knowledge of print, broadcast, digital and online mediums including social and mobile media channels and experience in mentoring creative talent and marketing team members to execute programs.
Experience in complex project management working with project briefs, budgets and timelines. Demonstrated ability to prioritize, manage multiple projects, negotiate and conceive/create new ideas in a high-pressure environment.
Proactive and polished communicator with excellent presentation skills, and the interpersonal skills to initiate interaction with stakeholders, industry business partners and vendors.
Experience in working extensively with a Board of Directors; as well as managing staff, partners, media representatives, community and regional representatives to achieve shared goals. Ability to showcase industry leadership via representing the organization at industry and community meetings and with professional organizations.
Ability to multi-task and willingness to work hours beyond the standard daily or weekly schedule when necessary.
