The Department of Intercollegiate Athletics and Recreation at the State University of New York, College at Plattsburgh seeks a qualified candidate to fill a full-time, professional appointment as the Head Women’s Volleyball Coach. This position will be responsible for the day to day operations of the Volleyball program; practice planning, recruiting, and scheduling. This position will assist the Director of Athletics and Recreation with the long-term planning and development of the volleyball program and an additional administrative area to be assigned.
Responsibilities Include: Schedule, plan and direct all practices, scrimmages and contests; preparation for games against opposing teams; Provide training, encouragement and motivation to prepare athletes for competitive events; Provide effective leadership to student-athletes to encourage both successful academic development and competitive performance; Monitor the academic performance of the women’s volleyball student-athletes by reviewing all student-athletes’ academic standing on a regular basis and develop individual progress plans if necessary. Monitor and maintain the women’s volleyball program budget; Establish and maintain regular office hours; Work with Admissions, Financial Aid and other College departments to ensure appropriate registration, admission and other administrative processing of student-athletes; Attend all mandatory SUNY Plattsburgh, SUNYAC and NCAA meetings; Plan and direct physical conditioning programs that will enable student-athletes to achieve maximum performance; Some travel and evening and weekend work may be required.
Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree; Two years of volleyball coaching experience at the NCAA or Club level; Demonstrated understanding of NCAA Rules and Regulations. A valid Driver’s license and the ability and willingness to drive fleet vehicles; CPR/AED certification will be required within one month of appointment.
Preferred Qualifications: Collegiate Head Coaching experience; and/or Master’s Degree in a related field will be highly regarded.
