The position identifies and assesses risk and exposure in all phases of the Port Authority’s operations, and makes decisions and recommendations relating to mitigating or eliminating those risks, or transferring them to insurers. Duties include: making recommendations on levels of required insurance coverage for the Port Authority and its airport tenants, permittees, vendors and contractors; tracking and collecting information on security deposits and performance guarantees held by the Port Authority, including letters of credit and performance bonds. Working with other departments as necessary to provide training programs related to risk, safety and any insurance mandated training programs for all Port Authority employees, including facilitating and tracking attendance of all employees at employee training programs. Other duties include assisting with the Port Authority’s commercial permitting and leasing, and other properties and contract-related projects as needed.
Bachelor’s degree required; experience in risk management including, risk assessment, risk mitigation, evaluation of insurance needs, insurance purchasing, claims processing or management, and managing training activities and programs preferred; or an equivalent combination of related training and experience may be considered. Airport and/or government experience desirable. Valid Florida driver’s license (or the ability to readily obtain) required.
