About the Position
The Emerging Leadership Manager is a key position supporting the fast-paced and dynamic emerging leaders’ initiatives within the Membership and Education department of Outdoor Industry Association (OIA). This position manages the Skip Yowell Future Leadership Academy and will be responsible for envisioning and executing new initiatives under the Skip Yowell Future Leadership Academy brands including outreach to universities and other initiatives that support the next generation of entrepreneurs and business leaders in the outdoor industry. The position will also support the Membership team as it conducts outreach to assist in membership growth through current and new industry categories.
Essential Functions of the Job
To create ambassadors for the Outdoor Industry Association
To invest in the future health and wellness of the outdoor industry and member organizations
To created diversified revenue stream(s) beyond corporate memberships
To create a connection to the Outdoor industry for college and universities and parallel business fields (Bike, Run, Surf, Sporting Goods)
Leadership of program participants and support (contract) team
Oversee the day-to-day communication and running of the SYFLA program
Work with Marketing and Salesforce administrator to create application, marketing and PR strategy.
Working with individual companies (like REI) to ensure successful internal roll out.
Create criteria to score applications. Recruit and manage individuals to help with application process
Create and send billing via Salesforce
Identify and recruit mentors and onboard them
Match mentors and mentees and manage the process throughout
Work with event staff to plan events for mentors and mentees
Identity non-profits and work with to create capstone projects and plan capstone/graduation event with event team
Work with contractors, including Education and Learning advocate to implement curriculum and events
Manage budgets for the entire program including revenue generation from applications, tuition and sponsorship, along with overall program expense budget.
Work closely with cross functional department leads for content and information to include in FLA curriculum
Work closely with Director of Events and Education
Work with VP of Membership to develop and implement additional revenue opportunities as they pertain to future leaders, mentor/mentee relationships, universities, new member categories.
Build relationships within the administrative and academic offices of targeted colleges and universities.
Work with Director of Membership to actively manage membership revenue goals
Work with SFDC admin to create appropriate tracking tools
Create and manage recruiting/retention campaigns and marketing toolkits in coordination with the marketing team
Work closely with all OIA departments to communicate new and ongoing information
Give presentations to companies, colleges/universities, internal and external staff
Assist in the implementation and execution of offsite OIA events as related to membership recruitment
Represent OIA at trade shows and events
Respond to members / administrators, prospects promptly, professionally and thoroughly.
High level of interaction with executives in the Outdoor industry, parallel industries, and academia

Sales and marketing background is a plus
