This position develops and programs projects, and is responsible for coordinating team members and consultants, representing Flad at client meetings, conducting site visits, and all necessary communications and documentation needed to ensure successful completion of projects on time and on budget.
Responsible for planning, programming and the development of all types of laboratory facilities, developing a successful, collaborative working relationship with the designers and project managers to ensure an integrated project is produced.
Contribute to the project team's responsibility for planning exercises, working to solve planning issues including departmental relationships and programming parameters.
Participate in and conduct client and user group interviews for needs assessment and implement lab planning documentation, preparing functional and space programs for lab facilities.
Direct, mentor, coordinate and review work of project team members and consultants. Work with project team members to complete planning, programming, and final design/documentation on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with Flad design standards.
Responsible for lab-related construction administration and associated tasks including site visits, submittal review, client/consultant/contractor communications and documentation to ensure successful completion of projects and client satisfaction.
Eight years of recent experience with a focus on master planning, programming, and developing large, complex laboratory facilities required. A broad base of experience with a focus in science and technology facilities for academic, bio-pharmaceutical, government or process planning preferred. Projects completed with multiple clients ideal.
Associates degree in architecture, engineering, planning or related field required; architectural degree preferred.
Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit required. Must be able to manipulate plan development real-time in these programs during client meetings.
Proficiency in Excel with the ability to manipulate data in front of the client required.
Experience in research labs that include engineering, material science, optical science, semiconductors, lasers, motion capture and electronics required.
Experience in challenging environments including vibration, EMI, RF and acoustics required.
Professional registration and LEED accreditation preferred.
