The purpose of the PHCC Education and Training department is to favorably position PHCC members and affiliates to achieve the highest level of participation, professionalism, leadership and business profitability in the emerging and ever-changing built environment through a variety of education products and services offered through the PHCC Academy. The PHCC National Association (501c6) seeks to expand education offerings branded as offered by the PHCC Academy that in general relate to Professional Development for PHCC business owners.
The PHCC Director of Education and Training develops, co-develops and/or curates education and training programs by collaborating with the PHCC Educational Foundation (501c3), PHCC affiliated organizations and industry partners; and is offered both by PHCC and by local and state PHCC association network. Includes oversight for related activities within the association’s PHCC Education and training department and including in the future, Joint Ventures and Designations. Provides general support to the EVP in all matters related to education and the PHCC Academy. Serves as a member of the organization’s management team providing support to the volunteer leadership, department heads and EVP.
Oversees the development and coordination of sessions and speakers at CONNECT.
Oversees the develop of new programs and services to assist in the effective operation of the association’s PHCC Academy to meet the educational needs of members.
Directs department administration and management, including budget maintenance and preparation for Education Development and in the future, Joint Ventures and Designations. Includes management and supervision of staff and budget performance.
Provides strategic direction by looking at industry best practices to stimulate growth and improvements to educational offerings. Working with education stakeholders, and in the future: Joint Ventures and Designation staff, establish direction and performance criteria for information and education programs, products and services; and appropriately leverage expertise and experience to provide quality offerings and services.
Oversees staffing of a cross-functional Education Committee that includes representatives from the PHCC Educational Foundation. Ensures that all meeting preparation and follow-up, as well as preparation of reports and recommendations of the committee are completed in a timely manner.
Provides direction and guidance on services and programs to the staff of the PHCC Education and Training department.
Assigns and or coordinates work with staff to accomplish established goals and objectives of the PHCC Academy.
Oversees the daily operations of education development, and in the future; Joint Ventures and Designations including department staffing, budget maintenance and program development.
Coordinates staffing of the Education Committee and related subcommittees at PHCC Board of Directors Meetings.
Ensures that all established administrative tasks are completed in a thorough and timely manner.
More Complicated Assignments
Interacts on a regular basis with member leadership to establish priorities for the PHCC Academy that are consistent with and support the PHCC Strategic Plan and PHCC Academy business plan.
Develops business plans to improve and expand the offerings of the PHCC Academy.
Participates on association-wide task forces and working groups to develop solutions to industry and association issues.
Benchmarks other the education offerings of other associations to develop and implement best practices relative to PHCC’s educational offerings.
Works with stakeholder groups to develop necessary policy recommendations as appropriate.
Works with PHCC Senior Staff on association-wide policy initiatives

To keep informed of changes, opportunities to ensure that educational objectives are met
PHCC Committees (Educational Foundation and PHCC Association)
To provide support to those committees with oversight of education-related issues.
PHCC Coalitions and Partners (PILC, HVACR Alliance, manufacturers/suppliers, etc.)
Coordinate activities as needed to support and achieve PHCC’s educational goals.
To gain information and knowledge to assist in carrying out the duties of the position.
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent direct experience in education, adult learning, business, marketing, communications or related field required.
At least five years of association experience required, with at least several in progressively responsible management and supervisory positions. Experience in working with chapters, volunteer leadership, state and local government and external associations and industry partners also required.
SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
An in-depth knowledge of association management is required. Knowledge of the construction trades and the services provided by local p-h-c associations desirable. Must be an excellent communicator demonstrated by the ability to prepare information that will be of value to contractors and affiliated industry participants. Must have demonstrated experience in program/ content development and implementation, learning management systems, instructional design, program management, committee management and volunteer support. Proficient in Microsoft Office suite. Ability to travel. Experience in managing vendors to deliver educational products.
