The University of Dayton Department of Chemical and Materials Engineering invites qualified applicants to apply for a tenure-track faculty position at the assistant professor level. Candidates with a commitment to innovative teaching at the undergraduate and graduate level are encouraged to apply. The candidate will be expected to work closely with a diverse population of students and engage in service to the University, profession and community. Successful candidates are expected to develop an externally funded research program and build strong governmental and/or industrial research collaborations. All relevant chemical engineering research areas will be considered with preference given to those that extend or complement current research at the University of Dayton. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to collaborate with faculty across campus, members of the University of Dayton Research Institute (UDRI), and government researchers in the Dayton region. This position will start on August 16, 2019.

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from an ABET Accredited Institution • Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, or related field, by July 15, 2019. • Demonstrated research experience in chemical engineering with a detailed vision for future research growth • Excellent written communication skills • Articulated commitment to quality teaching at the undergraduate and graduate level
• Post-doctoral research or industrial experience • Successful previous experience o Working as an on-site collaborator or contractor at a United States Department of Defense (DoD) installation o Teaching as instructor of record for a college-level course o Writing competitive grants o Collaborating with industrial partners • Excellent oral communication skills • Proficient interpersonal communication skills which facilitates working in a collaborative environment • Demonstrated commitment to: o Quality and innovative teaching strategies o Inclusive excellence
