CBRE| Heery is seeking a Director of Lean Project Delivery and Innovative Practices to lead our project delivery services within the Owner's Project Management (OPM) market. This position will establish standards for meeting our contractual obligations and concurrently increase the consistency and quality of the services delivered within our market sector.
The successful candidate will possess the skills to lead and work with all project teams to prepare, manage, measure and improve the ability of our staff to consistently deliver high quality, professional services. It is our goal to establish project delivery 'playbooks' which will outline the minimum guidelines and standards for projects by market sector (i.e. K-12, municipal, federal government, etc.).
While this position is initially focused on the New England area market, as the position becomes more defined within the first year it is anticipated that the successful candidate will possess the skills and ability to grow our innovative practices regionally and nationally. Our goal is to transform the CBRE Heery organization through the use of Lean Project Delivery using an operating system centered on a common language, fundamental principles and basic/consistent practices.
Experience successfully leading design and/or construction teams utilizing Lean Construction Practices is required. Strong leadership and communication skills are required. Candidate must be motivated and possess the skills to plan and implement change within the corporate structure of our organization.
The ideal candidate will possess 15 – 20 years within the design and construction industry working in both public and private market sectors. The ideal candidate will also possess Masters in Architecture, Engineering and/or other accredited design and/or construction programs.
The purpose of this position is responsibility for construction project management services within an assigned geographic market, program or client account to achieve the company's strategic business objectives. Key project delivery focus areas include scope, budget, schedule, quality and risk management.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Conduct periodic site visits to monitor the progress of construction, review status of work completed during the period covered, review that work is generally proceeding in a good and workmanlike manner and in general accordance with the approved drawings and specifications.
Review contractors' direct cost payment requisitions and budget status, review of subcontracts, bonds/subcontractor default insurance, review of change orders, review of Developer's monthly Job Cost Reports, opine on adequacy of contingency, review of construction and disbursement schedules, review of lien waiver and other documentation submitted by the Developer.
Manages and leads project management staff in the market and ensures thorough staff understanding and implementation of operations, policies, and procedures. Formally supervises individual employees and/or subordinate supervisors. Responsible for identifying tracking performance, coaching, training needs, and motivating direct reports and work group. Directly or indirectly responsible for hiring, terminating, compensation, and performance evaluation for direct reports and work group.
Prepare Project Status Reports and recommend the release of construction funds.
Perform training, on-going mentoring and direct management of a group of staff members including review of work, overview of workloads and preparation of performance evaluations.

Manages the planning, organization, and controls for a major functional area or department. May be responsible for a mix of direct and matrix reports. Approves subordinate's recommendations for staff recruitment, selection, promotion, advancement, corrective action and termination. Effectively recommends same for direct reports to next level management for review and approval. Monitors appropriate staffing levels and reports on utilization and deployment of human resources. Leads and supports staff in areas of staffing, selection, training, development, coaching, mentoring, measuring, appraising and rewarding performance and retention. Leads by example and models behaviors that are consistent with the company's values.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field. Minimum ten or more years' experience in owner representation, construction claims, construction administration, architecture, engineering, or similar experience, and three of these years should be in a managerial capacity.
CERTIFICATES and/or LICENSES
Licensure as either a Professional Engineer or Registered Architect is desired.
Ability to comprehend, analyze, and interpret the most complex business documents. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive issues. Ability to write reports, manuals, speeches and articles using distinctive style. Ability to make effective and persuasive presentations on complex topics to employees, clients, top management and/or public groups. Requires in-depth knowledge of financial terms and principles. Reviews complex financial/business analysis and reports prepared by subordinates. Requires expert level analytical and quantitative skills with proven experience in developing strategic solutions for a growing matrix-based multi-industry sales environment.
