The Director of Student Affairs and Services is responsible in leading the planning, development, management and implementation of all aspects of Student Services (which includes the graduate and undergraduate offices) and serves as an advocate for student success and retention. The position manages and directs the graduate and undergraduate offices of the Pardee School of Global Studies. The Director leads the staff for all student services during the day-to-day functions and working of the undergraduate and graduate offices. Also responsible in building and enhancing the career services and student life in the undergraduate and graduate students at the Pardee School.
Essential Function 1: Policy, Planning, & Strategy Development 40%: Working with the Pardee School leadership, responsible for student policy planning and implementation. Responsible for policy, academics, and student life including: course scheduling and planning; analyzing enrollment and retention rates; historical data analysis and trends; course design and creation. Works with Pardee School leadership in developing a marketing/recruitment strategy for Pardee School programs. Generates reports and analyzes data for trends for Pardee School programs related to admissions, retention, and graduation. Develops policies and procedures as needed for Pardee School Student Services. Plans, implements and evaluates student services needs for current and prospective students. Conducts budget approvals and reconciliation of student travel grants and purchases for the Office of Student Services. Develops procedures for program advisement for Pardee School students and initial advisement contact for prospective Pardee School students. Other duties as assigned.
Essential Function 2: Manage Undergraduate and Graduate Offices - 20% : Manages and directs the undergraduate and graduate office staff. Directs and oversees the core functions of the graduate and undergraduate office, including: admissions; academic advising; academic program information; enrollment management; student record management for all programs of study; development and programming of workshops, seminars, events; and career advising. Oversees operation of Student Services including coaching, mentoring and development of staff. Manages and supervises the overall Office of Student Services with regard to office coverage and day-to-day operations.
Essential Function 3: Career Services - 20%: Builds and enhances all career services in the undergraduate and graduate students at the Pardee School regarding career choices, internship, and job search strategies. Organizes career-related workshops and programs for Pardee students. Builds relationships with employers: help to arrange on-campus recruitment activities and on-campus information sessions for employers. Conducts outreach to corporate, government and non-governmental organizations to identify, develop, and implement programming and recruitment opportunities.
Essential Function 4: Student Life - 20%: Builds and enhances student life in the undergraduate and graduate students at the Pardee School. Collaborates with all parts of the Pardee School regarding student life activities; including undergraduate and graduate offices, development, and alumni offices. Provides oversight to all Pardee School student services functions, including the affiliated student groups in their event planning, financial transactions. Creates and execute programs and events geared towards the needs of Pardee students: welcome and orientation events; career events; and advises Pardee School student organizations.
Master's degree required.
Minimum of three to five years of experience, preferably in advising, career coaching and/or counseling or in related relevant fields.
Higher education experience strongly preferred and/or experience working with student populations.
Ability to deal with students and with student issues with sensitivity and compassion.
Adept at working well with all members of the academic community, including staff, faculty, students and senior-level administrators and leaders.
Prior supervisory experience necessary.
Exceptional customer service orientation.
