Under the direction of the Vice President of Organizational Advancement, the Director of Philanthropy is responsible for leading agency wide fund development functions for individual, corporations, foundations and government sources and for developing and executing an annual plan to increase and diversify funding on an ongoing basis. Expertise in the use of data to design and implement donor cultivation and engagement strategies to maximize revenue is an essential component of the position. The Director of Philanthropy must build and maintain strong working relationships with stakeholders and donor partners in the philanthropic sector. Success in this role requires a strong track record of cultivation, soliciting, closing and stewarding donors at the five, six and seven figure gift level. The ability to set goals and translate them into tangible projects and revenue targets is essential.
Develops and implement a strategic fundraising plan to achieve annual and long term funding goals.
Identify, cultivate and solicit and steward high worth donors and prep leadership/program staff on donor relationship management
Manage a portfolio of individual high worth donors 10K + in annual gifts, (number TBD based on annual plan revenue goal)
Reports on progress of development plan in quarterly reports to vice president.
Manage and supervise staff: Assistant Director of Annual Fund and Individual Giving and Assistant Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations providing direction and oversight to the grant process (proposal writing, reporting) and prospect research.
Supervises and directs development staff in the ongoing research of public and private funding opportunities and trends.
Cultivate individual and institutional supporters by maintaining regular communication with current and potential funders. Convening meetings/site visits as required.
Provide direction and oversight on the execution of Major Capital and Annual Giving Campaigns, Direct Mail appeals, Corporate sponsorships, Donor recognition activities, and special events, including annual Night to Shine Benefit.
Act as primary Senior Management liaison with the Finance Department in the monitoring, and analysis of program/project budgets for grant, donor and event revenue and departmental expenses.
Oversees donor communication programs and supervises staff maintenance of mailing lists and CRM database for development related activities.
Manages all external contractors/consultants to implement goals and objectives of agency-wide development efforts.
