The Social Work Department at the State University of New York, College at Plattsburgh, invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor effective Fall 2019. The successful candidate will be committed to excellence in teaching, scholarship and services in an institution dedicated primarily to undergraduate education. He or she will be expected to demonstrate an understanding of and sensitivity to diversity and gender issues, as SUNY Plattsburgh is committed to ensuring that its graduates are educated to succeed in an increasing complex, multicultural and interdependent world.
Responsibilities include: Educational functions include teaching a variety of courses in a CSWE-accredited generalist BSW program. Courses may include generalist-, group- and macro-practice, policy, research, diversity, social welfare, and electives. Additional responsibilities include student advisement, serving as faculty field liaison for senior internships, developing a research agenda and serving on department and college-wide committees. Candidates may be asked to teach courses in a distance learning format.
Required Qualifications: MSW from CSWE accredited program;
Minimum of 2 years practice in Social Work;
Possession of a Social Work license;
Ability to teach core BSW courses across the curriculum;
Evidence of teaching experience;
Proven ability to interact with the community;
The successful candidate will have demonstrated an ability to work effectively and collegially with faculty, staff, and administrators.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience as a BSW program instructor;
Experience supervising student interns in field placements;
Experience in a CSWE accreditation process.
