The Assistant Project Manager is responsible for the plan, schedule, scope, budget, status, risk and issue management of assigned projects of small to medium size and complexity consistent with OIT project management standards and practices. The position also serves as a single point of contact for these projects, including tracking labor for recharge and attending related stakeholder meetings. This position is also a key support role for the Network Projects team, performing many of the supporting functions to ensure recharge and non-recharge services are administratively accurate and timely.Under the supervision of Supervisor, Network Projects, and collaboratively with project teams, vendors, and project leadership, the position creates a project plan that includes but is not limited to project charter, governance, business case, scope, budget, timeline, and staffing plans.The position will build the project schedule, incorporating detailed tasks with start and end dates, resources required to complete tasks, and dependencies. The project schedule should illustrate the overall timeline, milestones, and critical path. The position presents schedule summaries and socializes rollups with leadership and project members to align all parties on work effort and priorities. The project schedule should be used to execute the project with messages that unify the project team on roles, expectations, assignments, and timelines. Once the project schedule is established, the position tracks and documents all project status, issues, and risks. On a weekly or bi-weekly basis, the position publishes project status, issue, and risk reports as well as leads meetings to report on project status, issues, and risks with project team members and leadership.The position works collaboratively with project team members on tasks behind schedule and issues to make course corrections and keep tasks on schedule. If efforts are suboptimal, the position should escalate project issues and risks as necessary to ensure timely completion of tasks. Based on the direction provided by OIT and business leadership, the Assistant Project Manager drives the analysis to solutions for timely issues and problem resolution or escalates to their supervisor for assistance.The position also plays an extensive role in communications and collaborates with OIT leadership and others project team members to generate messaging to external groups and campus constituents to support the overall success of the project.
