We are looking for a System Engineer to assist with planning and designing substation and transmission facilities; modifying and upgrading existing facilities; preparing plans and studies relating to sectionalizing, over current protection, load balancing and system reliability along with other related duties. This position will work out of our Falcon office, located east of Colorado Springs, near the base of one of the most famous American mountains, Pikes Peak! Responsible for developing departmental goals, objectives and supervising assigned personnel.
Prepare construction work plans, long range plans, and Borrower’s Environmental Reports (BERs) for the Association.
Works with engineering personnel, sales engineers, and manufacturer’s representatives to prepare specifications to resolve problems, investigate new product developments and technologies.
Coordinate activities with power suppliers, consulting engineers, contractors, and public authorities.
Assign technicians to repair equipment.
Bachelor's from a four-year college or university in Electrical-Engineering or equivalent and two years electric utility experience (preferably with a RUS borrower).
Must be competent in using engineering software including DSM/AMR systems.
Knowledgeable with all phases of design and construction of electrical infrastructure.
Solid understanding of National Electrical Safety Code and the National Electric Code.
Ability to communicate professionally and effectively, both orally and in writing, with Association employees, members, vendors, and contractors. Must project a professional image and possess the ability to facilitate and make presentations to large groups.
Proven success in motivating and leading others within a team environment. Skilled in the proper techniques of interviewing, hiring, coaching, appraising performance, disciplining, and other supervisory skills.
