APEX Operations and Outreach Director is responsible for management and oversight of all training, marketing, education and outreach programs in support of APEX to ensure APEX is successfully ensuring full alignment with USAF mission in support of the USAF 2030 Goals. This includes engagement of government, industry and academic teams, and compliance with all WSARC policies and federal and state regulations. In this position the APEX Operations and Outreach Director must promote transparency at all times, act ethically, promote and ensure compliance, and collaborate across APEX and USAF. The APEX Operations and Outreach Director must cultivate our people as our greatest asset and create an environment that supports innovation and inclusive behaviors.
Master's degree required in business administration or related scientific engineering field.
5 years of Executive Leadership experience with at least 10 years of R&D experience and 5 years of experience in managing diverse and distributed teams across the US.
Must have a leadership background with government and or industry experience and have experience in government sponsored research and development.
Knowledge of government research and development organizations including, but not limited to DOD, DARPA, DTRA, ONR, NRL, AFRL, ARO, NASA, and the Intelligence community.
Must have strong leadership and strong decision-making skills.
Strong organizational skills, as well as effective collaborative skills and, must be flexible and able to function well in a fast-paced environment.
Must be able to deliver complex and significant business objectives and transactions compliantly within time, quality and budget.
Ability to manage 3rd party partnerships including customers, project managers, and APEX support teams collaboratively and inclusively.
Ability to maintain relationships with a variety of diverse key stakeholders within and outside APEX.
Requires strong writing skills, reporting skills, operations management, scheduling, organizational leadership, time management, and presentation skills.
Highly effective communication, and interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to communicate with the public and handle sensitive information discreetly.
TS (top secret) clearance preferred
Essential Functions and percent of time::
40% Responsible for day-to-day APEX outreach management duties, consistent with all aspects of APEX contract, to maintain, sustain and grow the APEX mission according to the USAF priorities and overall strategy in support of the USAF 2030 Goals. Work with APEX and USAF leadership to create partnerships, networks, idea pipelines and other initiatives to facilitate collaboration across the Air Force with academia and industry to provide the Air Force with innovative cutting-edge technologies faster and smarter
This position is anticipated to require significant travel. Special contract terms and conditions of employment apply. Length of contract is one year, renewable, contingent upon funding.
