We have a vacancy for an avid individual with skills to perform specialized tasks in support of airport emergency and non-emergency communications. Not limited to the following, the ideal candidate:
Supervises the daily operation of the assigned area, facilitates customer focus work environment; assesses work efforts and progress; identifies solutions and resolves operational issues and situations; develops and integrates practicable processes; oversees the successful completion of work assignments.
Participates in the selection of team members, evaluates, coaches and mentors assigned employees; resolves situations, conflicts and drives work alignment with operational goals; encourages continuous learning and professional development; establishes performance requirements; participates in performance deficiency corrective action.
Receives, screens and transmits routine and emergency calls from tenants, passengers and staff members; identifies location and severity of the situation; dispatches and relays information to law enforcement, fire personnel, first responders and internal stakeholders.
Provides customer service to stakeholders; assists with public and tenants concerns and complaints; completes airport notifications on weather, evacuations, or critical situations; analyzes situations and resolves operational issues;
Acts as initial contact on operational issues with stakeholders, contractors and the public; communicates with and provides information to governmental agencies.
Documents call, activities and emergencies; gathers and disseminates information; maintains records and documentation; performs other duties as assigned.
Develops learning the curriculum and assimilates employees with procedures; establishes performance requirements; prepares work schedules and approves time; participates in the preparation of the budget; approves purchases and expenditures; performs other duties as assigned.
Technical Knowledge: Of emergency response and dispatch; effective business communication; organizational rules and regulations; proper radio terminology and protocol; effective customer service practices.
Communication: Clearly and accurately convey information through various avenues including verbal, written, logs and radio; practice active listening and tact.
Collaboration: Maintain and strengthen relationships internally and externally; share information and respond to requests; interact frequently and openly.
Critical Thinking: Critically reviews and translate procedures, situations, information and take appropriate action; multi-task and detail orientation.
Problem-Solving/Agility: Accurately analyze and respond to routine and emergency situations; initiate a course of action and dispatch others; readily adapt to changing priorities, evolving and unexpected situations.
Relationship: Maintain relations with internal and external stakeholders and others encountered in the course of work.
Leveraging Technology: Proficiently operate electronic systems and radio consoles; access and maintain information electronically; prepare reports.
Associate Degree or two years of college education in aviation management, business or public administration, criminal justice or security management;
Four years of increasingly responsible operational support experience, of which involved at least one year of supervision of handling emergencies and urgent communications in a public setting;
Or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Must have a current California POST accredited Public Safety Dispatcher certificate or obtain one within the first year of employment.
