The Jack W. Peltason Center for the Study of Democracy (CSD) at UC Irvine seeks a motivated, flexible and adaptable leader to provide oversight, analytical support and customer service to the faculty directors, center members, students, researchers, visitors, vendors and the public. The CSD sponsors research and education aimed at improving the democratic process in the United States and expanding democracy around the world. The CSD frequently sponsors community lectures featuring prominent public figures, high ranking, international government officials and supporters of democracy. Reporting directly to the SSRN Manager, the Center Administrator provides analytical and administrative support to the faculty directors; implements and oversees all activities and communications; participates in long and short-range planning; compiles and distributes center information as appropriate; manages and maintains CSD website; and coordinates events and meetings. The Administrator tracks and manages the operating budgets of the center and completes daily administrative tasks to include: room scheduling, event notifications, travel planning, reimbursement processing, web site maintenance, and on-site event assistance.As a member of the School of Social Sciences, the incumbent is tasked with upholding and exemplifying excellence in the University's core competencies-- job mastery, goal accomplishment, enterprise contribution, and innovation-- while representing the directors, faculty, and research centers to the campus.
