Responsible for setting the strategic direction for orthopedic and spine services across the HealthONE system. Develop and implement business plans to support the continued growth and success of the division. Establish and lead a cohesive organizational and governance structure that supports the hospitals. Actively coordinate the operational components of the Orthopedic and Spine Service Line across all Denver and Wichita market facilities resulting in service line growth, improvements in patient outcomes, patient and physician satisfaction, OR and post acute care efficiencies, and a reduction in cost variability. To utilize physician relationships to improve loyalty and create an operational environment that is targeted to physician needs.
Establish an operational structure that brings together all functional elements of Orthopedic and Spine services to provide a programmatic, multidisciplinary approach to the Service Line. •Establish routine Service Line meetings at all facilities and at market level. •Recruit a physician champion for each facility to chair or participate in Service Line meetings •Establish a common Service Line dashboard, measuring clinical and operational outcomes, that facilitates the aggregated and comparative measurement of these outcomes across all facilities. Monitor service line P&L. •Produce and present reports on key performance indicators and other significant benchmarking metrics, implement plans to address variability and poor performance •Assist facilities in the development of clinical protocols that use evidence based best practices to provide consistency in the performance of orthopedic and spine services across the division. •Assist in the recruitment of orthopedic/spine navigators as needed. •Assist in the development of division wide educational materials for orthopedic and spine patients.
Assist in coordinating the allocation of capital, equipment and supplies within the orthopedic and spine service lines. •Utilize expertise in surgical services to help develop requests for routine and other capital that is consistent with the objective of reducing variability across the service line •Assists in the preparation of, the annual service line operating/capital budget •Interact with physicians and vendors to help evaluate the introduction of new technology or procedures Cultivate and maintain professional relationships with primary customers •Develop relationships across the service line continuum to include department directors/managers, senior administrative staff, physicians, physician groups, patients, supply vendors and external entities to foster opportunities for revenue enhancement, enhanced customer service and to positively impact core clinical measures. • Collaborate with medical staff to develop and implement new clinical systems/programs to enhance existing services and raise the standard of care for the patient population served.
Leverage physician/practice relationships to influence the successful adoption of evolving delivery models. Assist in the implementation, development, and on-going management of these models, such as, but not limited to: •Invivolink •Co-Management •BPCI •Geri-fracture •Vendor replacement models •Marshall Steele or similar program
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: •Current working knowledge of the orthopedics field. •Possess strong interpersonal skills and ability to influence. Flexibility in working with administrators, physicians, and multidisciplinary teams to develop and improve cardiac disease-specific programs. •Promote the safety, health, and quality of life for patients as a first priority at all times and guide the creation and growth of cardiovascular programs. •Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, Internet searches, and relevant data bases. •Ability to work independently and under pressure to follow through on issues. •Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing. •Ability to establish and maintain long-term customer relationships, building trust and respect by consistently meeting and exceeding expectations. •Ability to work effectively with other employees and external parties.
Bachelor’s Degree in healthcare related field required.
Master’s Degree in healthcare related or business field preferred or in progress.
8+ years of progressively responsible related work experience that includes four years in an acute care hospital environment as an employee or contractor.
Experience in a surgical operating environment is required as is extensive knowledge of orthopedic and spine procedures and hardware.
Experience in working with orthopedic and spine physicians in the Continental Division is highly preferred.
