Affirmative Action No.:: 19Y170 Department:: Pediatrics Position FTE:: 100% Minimum Annual or Hourly Rate: Negotiable Job Purposes:: The Pharmacogenomics expert will be part of the research team in the newly formed Pediatric Clinical Pharmacology Group in the Department of Pediatrics, Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine based at Dayton Children’s Hospital. We are seeking an outstanding translational and/or clinical scientist to build and lead the area of Pharmacogenomics in the Pediatric Clinical Pharmacology Group. The faculty member will be responsible for developing, testing, implementing and publishing successful research concepts within the field of Clinical Pharmacology specifically pediatrics and other adjacent fields and obtaining independent funding to maintain research programs with a specific focus on expertise in the area of pharmacogenomics/pharmacogenetics. The faculty member will help in achieving the goals and objectives of the Department's strategic plan to accelerate the development of research and clinical delivery system strategies focused on improvement of clinical outcomes and elimination of health disparities. In addition to research activities, there is an expectation for academic work, including education, investigation, administration, as well as advocacy. Required Qualifications:: -M.D., or PharmD, or Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences or other related field. -3 to 5 publications, grant submissions and / or presentations at appropriate national and international events. -2 or more years in fellowship pharmacogenomics or post-doctoral experience in Clinical Pharmacology or other related field. -2 or more years experience with developing and managing interdisciplinary clinical and research programs. Associate Professor level candidates must fulfill all the requirements above, along with at least 5 years' experience as an Assistant Professor with an exemplary scholarly portfolio and supervisory experience. Full Professor candidates must fulfill all the requirements of Associate Professor along with at least 5 years' experience at the Associate Professor level with an exemplary scholarly portfolio and leadership experience. Essential Functions and percent of time:: 30% Investigation / Research: Strategically guide, enhance, and expand the scope, and sustainability of the Pediatric Clinical Pharmacology Group and Department ’s research, education and training, clinical and professional service programs and their portfolios. Develop, promote, and sustain interdisciplinary and collaborative programs in research, education and training, and clinical and professional service, with other units within the University, clinical partners, other universities and research organizations, nationally and internationally. 20% Guide the dissemination of key findings, best practices, and novel strategies in pharmacogenomics to, and develop, promote, and sustain strong relationships with, the key stakeholders in healthcare (patients, providers, purchasers, payers, and policy-makers); professional and scientific associations; advocacy organizations; business entities; and government agencies throughout the state and the nation. 15% Education / Teaching: Supervise and train graduate and professional pharmacy/medical students. Promote work environment that attracts, retains and engages highly-qualified faculty, staff, students, and associates in various programs of the Pediatric Clinical Pharmacology Group; and encourage their professional development, productivity, and innovation. 15% Administration / Service: Take on administrative roles on appropriate local, national and international committees 15% Provide strategic and administrative leadership in research, education and training, clinical and professional service programs to position the Pediatric Clinical Pharmacology Group at the national and international forefront in pharmacogenomics, late-stage translation, and value-based healthcare. Work closely with the Vice-Chair of Research, Pediatrics and other academic leaders to recruit and retain translational and clinical scientists who contribute to national and international leadership in research, education and training, and clinical and professional services.
