TRSA, the association for linen, uniform, and facility services, is seeking a Senior Director of Certification and Accreditation to join its committed, dynamic team. The Senior Director of Certification and Accreditation will lead efforts relevant to TRSA’s family of certifications which include the company-wide Clean Green certification for sustainability, the industry specific and facility-based Hygienically Clean certification and personnel certification programs. The position is responsible for ensuring that these certification programs are in compliance with industry standards and best practices in certification and accreditation and will be tasked with achieving and maintaining ANSI accreditation as a standards developing organization. The position will also identify and develop new programs to enhance the industry.
The Senior Director supervises one full-time and one part-time staff, as well as contractors and consultants. The position reports to the President & CEO.

The Senior Director of Certification and Accreditation position requires a range of advanced skills to succeed in the role including:

Interpersonal – Ability to identify and solve problems, resolve conflicts, and make fair decisions and communicate them to all stakeholders to build trust and establish open, collaborative communications and decision-making
Position responsibilities
Directs and oversees process and workflow for organizational and personnel certification and recertification programs. Identifies issues of concern, determines authority to resolve, and brings recommendations to the President & CEO if appropriate.
Monitors and evaluates the performance of staff; gives timely feedback; and recommends personnel actions, such as hiring, training, rewarding, disciplining, and terminating staff.
Acts as primary liaison with the certification program subject matter experts (SMEs) for regular standards development and revisions, inspection programs, exam development, self-study, and professional testing.
Provide organizational and strategic leadership, oversee policies and procedures
Facilitate and implement three-to-five year strategic and annual operational plans and objectives
Facilitate quarterly meetings for certification program advisory boards, committees, task forces and users’ groups to ensure program growth and customer satisfaction. Responsible for managing these groups including governance, leadership and administration of business, finances, and programs
Responsible for oversight of any certification-related projects and initiatives
Submit quarterly reports pertaining to activities, objectives, budget, and other activities
Planning programs from start to finish, including procedures, milestones, and deadlines
Budgeting for operations and monitoring programs
Staying informed on all updated laws and regulations, making sure all company operations are within the scope of those laws
Completing all required paperwork to ensure the organization’s certifications are intact and in good standing
Reviews current departmental policy and procedures on an ongoing basis. Identifies needs for change, develops recommended modifications, and works with the President & CEO to attain approval. Implements approved changes.
Reviews and maintains accurate records for all certification programs.. Responsible for providing recommendations to the President & CEO regarding certification program development, decision-making and communications.
Reviews and maintains accurate records for all notifications sent for unauthorized use of the certifications and responsible for providing recommendations to the President & CEO for follow up where unauthorized use has not ceased.
Conducts periodic audits of selected certification applications.
Leads accreditation process, including submitting annual accreditation applications, ensuring the certification programs are compliant with policies and procedures related to accreditation, maintaining records required for accreditation, etc. Leads efforts to achieve status as an ANSI standards development organization.
Provides reports for leadership and others as requested and authorized.
Works collaboratively with other TRSA staff to ensure clarity for all communications and online information for stakeholders. Collaborates with TRSA staff on marketing and other efforts as required, including webinars on the certification process.

Experience and education
Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in a discipline relevant to certification and/or accreditation.
Five years’ experience in management of certification and/or accreditation programs such as those recognized by the ANSI National Accreditation Board (ANAB) or the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA).
Experience with databases for certification a plus.
Competencies: The successful candidate will have excellent verbal and written communication skills; the ability to be self-directed or work within a team setting as the situation requires; be proactive, efficient, effective, and detail-oriented; have excellent problem solving/analytic skills; take pride in being part of a small, collaborative, highly effective team; have working knowledge of Microsoft Office; and have the ability to work and collaborate remotely. The position requires overnight travel, and the ability to set-up and staff exhibits including lifting 20 pounds at a time depending on TRSA event and exhibition schedule.
