The Impact You'll Make in this Role The person hired for the position of Plant Engineering Supervisor will provide supervision and direction to maintenance technicians, performing maintenance tasks on machines, systems, and facilities to maximize reliability and efficiency of operations. Here, you will make an impact by: - Coordinates work plans and schedules with operations to focus efforts, facilitate workflow, and minimize interruption of production
- Determine needs, implement procedures, and evaluate effectiveness of Predictive Maintenance and/or Preventive Maintenance methods, procedures, and schedules to assure maximum reliability
- Direct, monitor, evaluate and determine acceptability of work performed by technicians, and outside contractors for areas of responsibility
- Evaluate performance of direct reporting subordinates, and review evaluation with individuals to provide counsel for performance improvement and employee development
- Ensure effective communication of safety principles and regulations to all subordinates, and monitor operations for compliance to assure safety of all employees and contractors on the site.
- Determine training needs for personnel within units supervised and provide access to continuing education, training, and development programs to assure development and upgrading of employees' skills
- Ensure appropriate use of 3M's Maintenance Management System to provide accurate collection and processing of information and to provide useful reports for evaluation of equipment, reliability, repairs, maintenance, and life cycle costs
Your Skills and Expertise To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications: - High School diploma/GED or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution
- Four (4) years of manufacturing experience in a private, public, government or military environment
Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include: - Associate degree/Technical Diploma or higher in an industrial maintenance-related technical field or an engineering discipline (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution
- One (1) year of supervisory/leadership experience in a private, public, government or military environment
- Green Belt Training/Certification
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
