Individual needed to perform to electrical inspections on residential, commercial and industrial properties and ensures compliance with federal and state codes and local laws and ordinances. Individual selected will:
Inspect all electrical installments throughout the city/county including, but not limited to; residential - one and two family, apartment complexes; commercial - restaurants, hotels, shopping centers, industries, factories, signs and mobile homes, etc.,
Inspect remodels, temporary services, service upgrades, room additions, schools, city/county buildings and parks,
Make technical inspections of the installation of new electrical systems or modification of old electrical wiring systems, motors, equipment and related electrically operated apparatus,
Inspect approved plans, specifications and permits issued for proposed work projects,
Explain, both verbally and in writing, the electrical codes to architects, engineers, owners, contractors, electricians, governmental officials and the public,
Check each project for defects, omissions, violations, and other departure from correct procedures; issues notice of non-compliance where work is not correct, and directs to the attention of the Chief Electrical Inspector,
Issue written notices of code violations requiring corrective action,
Inspects all work upon completion and signs permit giving final approval for the county that the work is safe for life and property,
Check job sites to ensure all contractors have licenses,
Inspect fire sites when required by fire department to determine if occupants can remain in structure and determine possible cause,
Issue state certifications on completed jobs and facilities to State Fire Marshall, utility companies, building inspectors and owners,
Maintain records of all electrical inspections.
Position requires a 2B general inspector certification issued by the state for the inspection of residential, commercial and industrial properties. Individuals must also possess a valid driver’s license. Preference will be given to candidates with any of the following: three years of experience as a 2B general inspector; an associates or bachelor’s degree in a related field; proven computing skills including use of the Microsoft Office Suite as well as field specific software. Individual selected must be able to work in confined areas such as crawl spaces and attics and have the physical agility necessary to perform the essential functions of the position.
