The Accountant maintains ledgers and financial records of the organization. Reviews, analyzes and interprets financial data. Prepares various financial statements and reports. Prepares regulatory reports and state and federal tax reports. Performs monthly close process. Works with CPA firms and audit teams on annual audit. Ensures compliance with generally accepted accounting principles.
Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions:
Performs monthly close processes by reconciling ledger accounts, reconciling balance sheets, reviewing revenue and expense accounts, reconciling inventories and preparing monthly financial
Maintains, reconciles and closes subsidiary ledgers.
Routinely performs reconciliations of balance sheet accounts; researches and resolves discrepancies, maintains work
Assists with preparation of audit work papers.
Balances cash receipts daily and reconciles bank statements
Earnestly reviews invoices, responds to discrepancies, follows through on issues and enters into Accounts Payable system
Prepares and files necessary reports and payments for sales tax and applicable regulatory fees.
Assists with annual Budget
Prepares proforma budgeting to accurately represent anticipated future revenues and
Frequently pulls reports to support various
Tracks and measures actuals to budget and provides monthly, quarterly and annual reporting to represent Luminate’s financial
Analyzes, interprets and presents financial results to executive leadership.
Tracks and trends CAPEX spend to produce run rates in support of
Reviews, monitors, edits and closes Work Orders.
Creates and distributes Accounts Receivable invoices occasionally.
Develops cost-analyses on a variety of initiatives to establish ROI to aid in decision making.
Assists with PUC, FCC, State and Federal Regulatory requirements, producing reports and supporting accurate and timely
Assists with special projects and other duties as
Knows Luminate rules and regulations, policies, and operating procedure; shows good judgment as to when and how to apply applicable governing
Exercises independent judgment in a fast-paced environment with speed and accuracy.
Qualifications
To perform the Accountant role successfully, an individual should have the following education, competencies, and experience:
Bachelor of Science degree with emphasis in Accounting, Finance or a related field
Five years of experience in accounting or a relevant field preferred
Trustworthy handling of corporate and employee information and required to maintain strict
Must possess strong computer skills including Microsoft Office with Outlook, and other office systems, current or previous experience with accounting information
Ability to adjust to multiple, shifting priorities and adapt to
Ability to independently resolve problems, research information, create solutions, and make decisions based on facts and sound judgment.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team, establishing and maintaining effective working
Personal characteristics shall include integrity, motivation, courtesy, composure, good attendance, and an overall professional
Experience with NISC (Preferred)
Electric utility accounting and the governing regulations and accounting requirements under the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) (Preferred)
Essential Functions
Physical Effort and Dexterity: This position requires sitting to complete work with a computer using a variety of software applications and telephone calls. Approximately 95% of the time will be spent in the office while approximately 5% of the time will be spent traveling between offices.
Visual Acuity, Hearing and Speaking: Must be able to communicate clearly for work and safety The noise level in the work environment may range from moderate to loud. Visual and audio acuity is essential to this position proficiency in using standard office equipment.
Environment/Working Conditions: Normal office conditions, some irregular hours may be Occasional day time travel for training or various errands as needed to complete the responsibilities of the position.

About Luminate Broadband
Yampa Valley Electric Association is a cooperative located in Northwest Colorado. We have two locations: one in Steamboat Springs and one in Craig. Today, the Association serves nearly 26,300 meters over 2,840 miles of line. The association's service territory extends east to the continental divide, south to almost I-70, north into Wyoming about 10 miles, and west to within 25 miles of the Utah border. The 7,000 square mile service territory includes the communities of Baggs and Savery, Wyoming; Craig, Hayden, Steamboat Springs, and Yampa, Colorado; and surrounds, but does not include the town of Oak Creek, Colorado. The Association is run by a Board of Directors. The member/owners elect nine individuals from the general membership to represent them as Board of Directors. Three Directors are elected each year on a rotating basis. Yampa Valley Electric owns no generation facilities. It purchases power from the Western Area Power Administration (a federal power marketing agency) and Xcel Energy. YVEA is located in beautiful Steamboat Springs, Colorado.
