Job Summary This is a Career-Ladder position PROJECT MANAGER II (Mid-Level): Manages, coordinates and supports development activities for capital development and construction projects. Oversees, evaluates, and manages the work of UTA consultants and contractors conducting the planning, environmental studies, design and construction activities to deliver projects; and/or helps to oversee the provision of technical and business support to projects. Responsible for or assists in selecting and supervising consultants and contractors. Participates in the resolution of key policy issues and other strategic problems associated with UTA’s transit program. Develops and manages program budgets; and monitors progress and accountability. Coordinates capital project development activities with other UTA departments and interacts with government agencies, particularly FTA and UDOT. Works to assure compliance with federal, state and local regulations; and supports public involvement and collaboration with elected leaders and the community at large. PROJECT MANAGER III (Senior-Level): Manages, coordinates, and supports development activities for capital development construction projects. Oversees, evaluates, and manages work of UTA consultants and contractors conducting planning, environmental studies, design, and construction activities to deliver projects; and/or helps to oversee provision of technical and business support to projects. Responsible for or assists in selecting and supervising consultants and contractors. Participates in resolving key policy issues and other strategic problems associated with UTA’s transit program. Ensures compliance with federal, state and local regulations; supports public involvement and collaboration with elected leaders and the community at large. Minimum Qualifications EDUCATION - Bachelors in Civil and/or Environmental Engineering or related field.
- Master’s in business administration, engineering or a related technical discipline – preferred.
- Registered Professional Engineer (PE) required or American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) certification.
EXPERIENCE
PROJECT MANAGER II (Mid-Level) - Six (6) years professional engineering/planning experience including planning, design, and/or construction of large transportation projects is required.
- Five (5) years direct experience in managing the planning, design and/or construction of transit related projects or other transportation projects
- Project management experience with complicated transportation projects – specifically budgets, schedules, scopes of work, stakeholders, political influence, federal grant requirements, etc.
PROJECT MANAGER III (Senior-Level) - Six (6) years professional engineering/planning experience including planning, design, and/or construction of large transportation projects is required.
- Ten (10) years direct experience in managing the planning, design and/or construction of transit related projects or other transportation projects.
- Project management experience with multiple complex transportation projects – ie, complex scope, schedule, budget, numerous stakeholders, political influence, limited funding, etc.
KNOWLEDGE
- Knowledge of NEPA environmental procedures
- Knowledge of FTA programs and requirements
- Basic knowledge of project management techniques, software, and tools.
SKILLS
- MS Word and Excel – Intermediate proficiency

- IPCS – Intermediate/Advanced proficiency

UTA reserves the right to determine the equivalencies of education and experience Pay Rate: PM II starts at $88,008.96 / PM III starts at $104,349.44 - Compensation commensurate on education and experience.
